Trust & transparency
Our standards for useful, accurate and transparent Canadian financial education.
Who publishes and maintains our content
MAFHH INTERNATIONAL LTD is responsible for the information published on CAFinanceCalculators.com. These editorial standards apply to new tools, educational explanations and material revisions. They explain what publication requires; they do not certify professional review of every page.
Where authors or reviewers are named, the attribution must describe the work they actually performed. Questions about a source, an omission or a potential conflict can be sent to [email protected].
Source hierarchy
Prefer legislation and regulations, followed by official administrative guidance, official rate tables and documentation. Use CRA, Revenu Québec, provincial or territorial authorities, FCAC, OSFI, CMHC, Service Canada and Bank of Canada where relevant. Secondary explanations may provide context, but must not override an applicable primary source. See Sources & References.
Jurisdiction, dates and proposed changes
Canadian financial rules can depend on a province, territory, municipality, transaction date or tax year. We identify the relevant scope and distinguish a federal rule from a local one. Québec-specific treatment is explained when it affects the supported calculation.
A proposal, consultation or budget announcement is labelled separately from an enacted rule. If an official page describes a future effective date, the tool must not apply it to an earlier transaction without explanation.
Evidence and attribution
- Separate sourced facts, modelling assumptions and illustrative examples.
- Identify important exclusions and uncertainty beside the relevant calculation.
- Do not fabricate quotations, credentials, author biographies, test results or user statistics.
- Name a reviewer only when that person actually performed the stated review.
Plain language and AI-assisted drafting
We write in plain Canadian English and explain technical terms where they are used. Automated assistance, including AI, is used in preparing some draft material. An AI-generated statement is not a legal source, a calculation test or a professional review.
Our publication standard requires checking legal and numerical claims against relevant sources and keeping examples consistent with the stated assumptions. We do not create fictional authors, qualifications, testimonials or audit results to support a page.
Updates and commercial independence
Rates and dated figures are rechecked before a new-year version is published and when a relevant official change is identified. A meaningful revision receives an updated date; changing a year in the heading alone does not count as a review.
A commercial relationship cannot determine the formula or result of a calculator. Relevant paid relationships must be disclosed near the affected content, as explained in our advertising and funding disclosure. A confirmed material error is handled through the corrections policy.
Questions and corrections
Send a source or accuracy concern to [email protected]. Material errors are handled under the Corrections Policy.
