Report an issue

Email [email protected] with “Correction” in the subject. Include the page URL, jurisdiction, relevant date and a reproducible example using fictional inputs. Identify the disputed source, formula, wording or output.

How we assess an error report

We compare the reported result with the tool’s stated scope, inputs and sources. This helps separate an actual error from a different assumption, an unsupported scenario or a change in law. We may ask for clarification or an official reference.

Acknowledging a report does not mean accepting its proposed fix. If the report identifies a credible risk of a materially wrong result, it is treated as an accuracy issue while the relevant evidence is checked.

Warnings, corrections and temporary removal

An error that materially changes a tax estimate, borrowing cost, benefit amount or privacy disclosure warrants priority. Depending on the issue, the response can include correcting the page, displaying a warning, or temporarily removing the affected calculation.

We do not represent an uncertain result as verified simply because the rest of the tool is working. Time needed to investigate depends on the rule, available evidence and the scope of the problem.

How material corrections are disclosed

A material correction identifies what changed, the affected rule or period, and the correction date on the relevant page. Small spelling or formatting fixes do not need a separate correction notice.

A correction notice does not rewrite the history of a review. If a rate or interpretation was wrong, the revision must not imply that it had already been verified before the error was found.

Checks after a formula or rate changes

The corrected scenario and related boundary cases are rechecked after a numerical change. Worked examples, explanatory text and other tools using the same rule also need review.

The scope of any verification statement must match the checks actually completed. You can ask about the assumptions behind a correction through our contact page.

Privacy and disagreement

Reporter names and private correspondence are not published without permission unless required by law. If you disagree with a response, reply with the source and reasoning you want reconsidered. Privacy complaints may also be raised with the appropriate regulator; see the Privacy Policy.
